Are your sweaters for men or women?

We do have some sweaters that are designed specifically for women. All of the other sweaters are uni-sex, which can be worn by a man or woman.

What is the warmest garment?

Wool is a complex protein, which has evolved over millions of years to protect sheep in a variety of weather conditions. Over the centuries, nature has given us a hard-wearing, easy care and very warm fiber. All wool is very warm. The coiled structure of wool forms millions of tiny pockets, which trap warm air between them, creating the perfectly insulated environment. The warmest garments we offer are the Forest Fur line.

What is the difference between New Zealand wool and wool from other countries?

Internationally, New Zealand wool is recognized as some of the best to be had. New Zealand has less than 4 million people and close to 75 million sheep, so they know their sheep pretty well! Wools of New Zealand carry a unique brand, the Fernmark, to reinforce their dedication to quality and traditional values. To qualify, it must contain New Zealand wool and meet a very strict set of technical and performance standards for properties such as strength, color fastness, wash ability and level of workmanship.

What is Merino wool?

A very fine, soft wool from the merino sheep. Worsted merino yarn is excellent for knitted garments.

What is Worsted Wool?

A general term describing various fabrics woven from worsted yarns containing the longer fibers spun from combed wool. Usually refers to tightly woven, smooth, clear-finished cloth in a variety of twill or fancy weaves used in fine knitwear.

What is a Fernmark?

The black and white fern symbol representing Wools of New Zealand. Garments wearing this label have met stringent international specifications and contain a high proportion of wool grown in New Zealand. The Fernmark is a customer's assurance of quality, performance and style.

How do I get my garment cleaned?

Wool naturally repels dirt and holds its shape without wrinkling. Given a few easy to follow rules, cleaning is simple. All of our wool sweaters (even those with leather) can be machine washed on delicate cycle with approved wool wash detergent and warm water. The garment may be hand washed or dry cleaned if you prefer. ALWAYS dry flat naturally. DO NOT tumble dry.

How do the sizes run?

All of the sweaters run a little large. If you normally wear a large you may want to purchase a medium. The following is an International Sizing Chart:
